The leads carry the electrical power from the distributor that creates the spark in the engine to ignite the fuel, by using a higher quality lead you can create a more effective transfer between the two parts to help eliminate lag during acceleration.
An average kit will cost you roughly £40.00 and will only take you about 20 min’s to install, but take care to replace each lead one by one as if they are replaced out of order the engine will misfire and will need re-tuning professionally.
